Commodities prices are going through the roof. Why should it be different for hockey players salaries ?
They are a commodity : you trade them, buy them out, speculate on their future value.
Besides, their salaries are booming in US dollars, much less in Canadian dollars, and are in free fall when translated into oil barrels.
