When you receive a 20 million USD offer for a 2-year contract, you have to be brain-damaged to wonder whether you want to return to the game : if you are not sure you want to return to the game when 20 million USD are handed over to you, then it surely means you'd better retire and you no longer have it in you to battle along the boards 80+ nights per season.
Some will explain Mat Sundin needs more time, because a few more million dollars no longer mean anything to him and he just wants to make sure he takes the offer which gives him his best shot at the Stanley Cup.
But what is a professional athlete who no longer cares about dollars if not brain-damaged ?
