Would-be thespian and struggling French coach Raymond Domenech called back Patrick Vieira to play against Rumania, perhaps out of frustration that Makelele no longer wished to play for the national side.
Michel Platini is rumored to have also been contacted and have passed on a return to the field.
Domenech might end up having to select himself.
Meanwhile the future no doubt belongs to Vieira. He has even played several (Yes, several...) games with Inter.
True, Rumania lost 0-3 at home against Lituania, and it may take even more than Domenech for France not to qualify for South Africa.
